"A talented emerging author of promise"
28/06/2022
I couldn't contain my excitement when my author copies of The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction arrived last month! It is positively surreal to get to hold my published story in my hands. I've also heard from a few readers with their kind responses, which is more than I could have ever asked for.
Sam Tomaino wrote in SFRevu that The Mechanic was a "Beautifully written story with a nice ending", while a private fan on Instagram said, "This is such a beautiful story! I read it a few days ago, and it still sings in my heart!" š
Debbie Moerlins, another fan from Instagram, commented, "Loved this story. I hope to see a full sci-fi novel from you soon." š From your mouth to God's ears, Debbie!
I've also received feedback on my recent funding application to the Arts Council of Ireland. While I was unsuccessful in securing funding this round, I was blown away by the extremely kind remarks from the Council in my application review.
Here's what they had to say:
ā¢ āSample well set and staged with effective, suspenseful, engaging storytelling, distinctive, dynamic narrative voice and subtle, skillfully drawn world building.ā
ā¢ ādemonstrating ambition and vision for workā
ā¢ āMotivated writerā
ā¢ āThis is a good application from a talented emerging author of promiseā š
This feedback stokes the fire in me to continue to work on my writing and work to improve. With all that's going on in the world that's so scary these days, writing (and reading) bring me such joy.
I hope that if you're reading this, you're surrounding yourself with the things that bring you joy, too.
Stay safe out there. š
